The Trinity Mirror Midlands group has said 25 jobs will go across two of its newspapers in the West Midlands.

It expects 19 staff to go from its two main papers in Birmingham and six from the two in Coventry, after a month-long consultation, a spokesperson said.

The group owns the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham Post, Coventry Telegraph and Coventry Times.

Managing director Simon Edgley said it had "not been taken lightly".

"It is necessary for us to adapt to commercial challenges and provide a structure that gives longer term sustainability of the business," Mr Edgley said.

It is hoped the majority will be voluntary redundancies, which could include staff at the group's smaller Birmingham and Coventry publications.
