There was "no third party involvement" in the death of a man whose body was found by a dog walker near a Rochdale social club, police have said.

The body was found near Healey Conservative Club in Whitworth after a dog discovered a human leg on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination failed to determine the cause of the man's death.

Lancashire Police said they were "working under the assumption" the man was Heath Nield, a 31-year-old from Bacup, who disappeared in July.

A spokeswoman said Mr Nield's family had been made aware of the examination results and "the matter will now go to an inquest".
