Man in court over car on Brands Hatch circuit

An East Sussex man who allegedly drove his girlfriend's car on to the Brands Hatch circuit during a race has appeared in court.

Jack Cottle was arrested after footage was posted on YouTube of a VW Polo being driven into a Fun Cup race in June on the track in Kent.

The 22-year-old, of Durgates, Wadhurst, appeared before Sevenoaks magistrates charged with causing a public nuisance.

He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 10 October.

Mr Cottle is charged with causing a nuisance to the public on 14 June by driving on to a live racing circuit in the middle of a race, causing it to be stopped and putting competitors in harm's way.

He was released on conditional bail which bans him from entering Brands Hatch or going to any motorsport event.
