Police have released a photograph of a man wanted in connection with 15 armed robberies in less than a fortnight.

Peter Thomas, 27, is believed to have robbed 11 restaurants, shops and off-licences in the Stockport area since 16 August, as well as four others in Bolton and Lancashire.

The last offence occurred on Wednesday at William Hill bookmakers in Adswood.

The offender usually produces a handwritten note claiming he has a gun and demanding money, police said.

Det Ch Insp Tony Heslop of Greater Manchester Police urged shop owners to be on their guard.

"The number of robberies this man has committed in such a short space of time means catching him is an absolute priority for us.

"We have circulated a picture of a man we want to speak to and I would urge anyone who has information about his whereabouts to call us."
