Former Wallingford teacher charged with abusing pupils

A former teacher has been charged with sexually abusing pupils at boarding school over a 20-year period.

Trevor Bolton, 77, from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, was arrested over offences allegedly carried out at Carmel College in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

He faces four counts of indecency with a child and five of indecent assault on a male, relating to six victims between 1968 and 1988.

Mr Bolton was a teacher at the time at the Jewish boarding school.

Carmel College was housed at Mongewell Manor House from 1948, but closed in 1997.

Mr Bolton appeared before magistrates last Friday and was bailed to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 1 August.
