Sharon Wall hospital stabbing: Ryan Matthews in murder remand
A man accused of murdering a healthcare assistant at a Gloucester hospital for the mentally ill has been remanded in custody.
Sharon Wall, 53, from the Tuffley area of the city, was stabbed on Wednesday at the inpatient unit of Wotton Lawn Hospital.
Appearing at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court earlier, Ryan Matthews, 61, did not enter a plea.
He was remanded to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on 15 July.
'One in a million'
Ms Wall's employers have described her as "highly compassionate and dedicated".
In a tribute, her family said: "We would like to thank everyone for their support and such kind words that have been said about Sharon.
"She was nothing less than one in a million and to say she will be missed is an understatement.
Shaun Clee, chief executive officer of the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Sharon Wall was a well respected healthcare assistant and everyone who knew her speaks about her warmth, caring nature and good sense of humour."
