'HMP Springhill absconder accused' Wayne McLeod sent for trial

A man accused of absconding from an open prison in Buckinghamshire has been committed for crown court trial.

Wayne McLeod, 36, is charged with absconding from HMP Springhill in Grendon Underwood on Sunday.

He was arrested in Reading on Tuesday and appeared at the town's Magistrates' Court earlier on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.

He has yet to enter a plea and will be brought to Reading Crown Court on 25 July.
