A 19-year-old man has been remanded in custody after a van was stolen in Essex and driven 50 miles the wrong way on the M11 and A14 to Cambridgeshire.

Ryan Nee, from Harebell Way in Romford, is accused of taking a large van from Stock Road in Billericay on Wednesday.

Basildon magistrates heard it travelled north on the southbound carriageway until stopped at Godmanchester.

Mr Nee is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 22 August charged with burglary and motoring offences.
