Anglian Water and Essex and Suffolk Water bills to rise

Water companies serving Suffolk and Essex are raising prices from April.

Essex and Suffolk Water has announced an increase of 2.4%, which it says will take the average water bill to £227 a year, from £222.

Anglian Water has also announced that its prices are going up - by 1.6%.

Bernard Crump, from the Consumer Council for Water, said the increases could have been more drastic but called on the companies to help customers who struggled to pay bills.

"We're pleased, particularly in the case of Anglian Water, that they haven't taken up the price increase that the regulatory regime would have allowed them to," he said.
