The key to solving the murder of a Coventry woman shot dead in Leicestershire one year ago lies in her home town, police have said.

Hayley Pointon died from a single gunshot wound at a house in Sunnydale Road, Hinckley, on 3 February.

Leicestershire Police re-issued a witness appeal on the first anniversary of her death, targeting the Willenhall area of Coventry.

No-one has yet been charged with Miss Pointon's murder.

Lead investigator Det Ch Insp Tony Yarwood said police continued to receive fresh information on the 30-year-old's death.

"My message to those who have anything at all to do with Hayley's murder is quite clear. This will not go away," he said.

In a statement, Hayley's family spoke of spending their first Christmas without her.

They said: "The fact 12 months have passed has done nothing to lessen our grief."

Nine people remain on police bail.
