A body found in a river in Oxford on Christmas Eve has been confirmed as that of missing man Michael Griffiths.

The body of the 31-year-old, who went missing in Stechford, Birmingham earlier in December, was found in the River Thame near the M40's junction 8a.

Police said a post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday had proved "inconclusive".

Further tests are due to be carried out. It is not believed his death was related to the storms.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said Mr Griffiths' family was "being kept informed of the latest developments".
