Ronald Hayes death: Manslaughter charge over Chester pub attack

A man has been charged with the manslaughter of a man who was assaulted outside a pub in Chester.

Ronald Hayes, 63, of Morpeth, Northumberland, died two days after the attack outside the Liverpool Arms pub in Northgate Street on 23 November.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Hayes died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Kevin Gardner, 26, of Westminster Road, Ellesmere Port, is due to appear before magistrates on 7 January.

Another man, also 26 and from Ellesmere Port, who was arrested, has been released on bail.
