Shrewsbury Town v Walsall violence: Another man arrested

A 40-year-old Walsall man has been arrested as part of a investigation into fighting at a football derby in Shrewsbury.

A police officer suffered a broken leg after trouble before the game between Shrewsbury Town and Walsall in October.

The man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and bailed, West Mercia police said.

Police said a total of 30 people had now been arrested in connection with the fighting.

Six men from Walsall have already pleaded guilty to violent disorder. They will be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court next month.

Another four men pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

Sixteen men, mainly from Shropshire, admitted being involved in the brawl at an earlier court appearance

Fifteen pleaded guilty to violent disorder and one to encouraging other people to engage in violence.

Two denied assaulting a police officer causing actual bodily harm.

West Mercia Police said "many hours" had been spent scrutinising CCTV footage and that further arrests could not be ruled out.
