Man arrested over rape at knifepoint in Chester

A man wanted in connection with a rape attack on a woman held at knifepoint in Chester has been arrested.

The victim was out jogging with her dog in the Dukes Drive area of the city last Friday when she was attacked.

The 44-year-old was held for several hours at knifepoint before she managed to escape.

The wanted man, who had been released from prison two days before the attack, was arrested in North Wales on Thursday evening.

The 37-year-old, who had links to Cheshire and North Wales, had been the subject of a week-long police search and was stopped alongside the A483, close to the England-Wales border.

Police said the victim was being supported by specially trained officers.
