Shrewsbury v Walsall violence: 17 appear in court

Seventeen people have appeared in court in connection with violence before a League One match between Shrewsbury Town and Walsall.

One police officer suffered a broken leg and another two were hurt in the disorder in Shrewsbury town centre on 14 October.

Twenty-nine men and youths were charged in total.

The 17 who appeared before magistrates in Shrewsbury on Monday were all charged with violent disorder.

Two have also been charged with causing actual bodily harm to a police officer.

All 17 are due back to the court on 24 June. The other 12 people will appear at other court hearings.
