Chiltern Railways train services hit by cable theft

Rail services between the West Midlands and London were disrupted after 70m (230ft) of signal cable was stolen.

Chiltern Railways said the theft happened at about 04:30 GMT on Thursday between Solihull and Warwick Parkway stations.

The vandalism caused delays and cancellations to services between Worcestershire and London Marylebone.

A spokesperson for the operator said services have returned to normal though some trains may have fewer coaches.

Chiltern Railways apologised for the disruption and said that after the cable was taken between Solihull and Warwick Parkway they were not to run any services in the morning between Kidderminster and Lapworth.
