Paraglider killed in Buckstones Edge fall
A paraglider died when he fell a "considerable distance" on to rocks at a West Yorkshire beauty spot.
Police said the 52-year-old man from Bury, Greater Manchester, had been declared dead at the scene at Buckstones Edge, above Marsden.
Weather conditions were favourable when the accident occurred, according to the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team.
The police said the accident had happened at 14:15 GMT on Saturday. The man's family have been notified.
Mountain rescuers helped to carry the man up the steep-sided valley to an ambulance waiting in the car park above.
Buckstones Edge and the surrounding area is popular with paragliders and hang-gliders who launch off the crags to fly over March Haigh valley.
The coroner has been made aware of the paraglider's death.
