Train services between Swindon and Bristol restored after landslip

Train services between London Paddington and Cardiff Central have been restored following a landslip between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.

The disruption on First Great Western's eastbound service followed a landslip near the Chipping Sodbury tunnel.

Overnight frost and recent wet weather was blamed for the landslip.

A Network Rail spokesman said about 25 tonnes of material and several small trees were cleared from the line overnight.

The line reopened at about 04:30 GMT with a 40mph speed limit restriction near the location of the landslip.
