Armed police arrest robbery suspect at Middlesbrough hotel

Armed police have arrested a man at a Teesside hotel in connection with a series of robberies in the north-east of England.

Officers from Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland took part in the operation at the Blue Bell Hotel in the Acklam area of Middlesbrough late on Friday.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robberies.

A police spokeswoman said no firearms were discharged and no-one was hurt.
