Ex-Essex Police officer Lee Weavers denies baton assault

A former high-ranking Essex police officer has denied assaulting a neighbour using a police baton.

Lee Weavers, 60, from Coprolite Street, Ipswich, is charged with causing actual bodily harm and assault using the baton as an offensive weapon.

It is alleged the offence happened near his home on 11 August.

Mr Weavers, a former acting assistant chief constable, was bailed to return before Ipswich magistrates on 24 October.
