Controversy continues over 'mega' pig farm at Foston

A controversial application to build a farm with more than 25,000 pigs in Foston, Derbyshire has angered both local residents and animal rights campaigners.

The plan by Midland Pig Producers (MPP) has led to a series of angry demonstrations against the growth of intensive farming.

BBC Inside Out spoke to actor Dominic West and chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, who oppose the project, as well as the farmer behind the application.

MPP said the proposed farm will protect welfare standards and, thanks to sophisticated filtration systems, neighbours will not be affected by smells or pollution.

Inside Out is broadcast on Monday, 13 February on BBC One East Midlands and West Midlands at 19:30 GMT.
