Archbishops of Canterbury and York open MediaCity bridge

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have opened a new bridge at MediaCityUK in Greater Manchester.

Dr Rowan Williams and Dr John Sentamu jointly opened the £11m bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal at MediaCityUK, pushing a button to close the bridge.

The pair were then joined by the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Nigel McCulloch, to become the first people to cross it officially.

It is the first time the archbishops have undertaken a joint mission to an industrial city and the pair have had a series of engagements across both Manchester and Salford.
