Murder charge over County Durham motorist death

A man has been charged with the murder of a County Durham man who died after an alleged road rage attack in Dublin.

Raymond Bates, 49, of Peterlee, died in hospital four days after allegedly being assaulted on 26 September 2010.

Karl Donohoe, 29, of Bealing Village, Tyrrelstown, Dublin, was first charged with assault causing serious harm.

The Court Service confirmed a judge at Dublin's District Court struck out the lesser charge as the State applied to charge him with murder.

He was remanded in custody until 21 January.
