Action over 'cracked' County Durham properties

Some council tenants in a County Durham village are being asked to move out of their homes due to structural problems.

The properties in St Chad Square and St Bede Crescent, Thornley, have suffered from movement and cracked brickwork.

East Durham Homes, which manages the housing for the council, is offering assistance in finding new homes and giving a disturbance allowance.

The council plans to demolish eight properties and bring nine others up to standard.
