Walker raises cancer cash from Cheshire to Birmingham

A former breast cancer sufferer has raised £2,500 for charity by walking more than 80 miles along canal towpaths.

Celia Webber, 63, set off from her home in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and walked all the way to Birmingham, and then most of the way back again.

She was accompanied by a canal boat and joined by friends and other walkers along her two-week route.

All the money raised has been donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Ms Webber followed the Shropshire Union Canal to Wolverhampton before joining the Birmingham Canal and finished at Gas Street Basin in Birmingham.

She returned via the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, the Trent and Mersey and the Shropshire Union Canal.
