Services in North East and Cumbria honour war dead

Remembrance Sunday services have taken place across the North East and Cumbria in memory of the men and women killed in conflicts past and present.

Services were held at Newcastle's War Memorial, Middlesbrough Cenotaph and Durham and Carlisle cathedrals.

Sunderland had one of the biggest Remembrance parades outside London, which was also attended by wartime merchant seamen and their families.

A parade also took place in Market Square in Hartlepool.

The Queen led the nation's tributes at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, and Prince William earlier attended a memorial service at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
