Green light for play area schemes


Children in Middlesbrough and County Durham will be given new or refurbished play areas.

Funding for the Playbuilder scheme had been frozen because of the government's Comprehensive Spending Review.

But Middlesbrough Council said it has secured £455,000 for four play areas in the town.

Durham County Council said funding of more than £600,000 will allow 13 projects to go ahead.
