Robbers abducted Grantham shop's employee

A man was abducted by robbers and forced to help them steal a large amount of cigarettes from the shop where he works.

The victim was approached by two masked men, who dragged him into a car in Wolds Drive, Keyworth, Nottinghamshire.

They drove him to neighbouring Lincolnshire, where he was made to open Booker cash and carry in Gonerby Hill Foot, Grantham.

He was released, shaken but unhurt, after the ordeal on Wednesday evening.

Before setting the man free, the robbers transferred him to a white Mercedes Sprinter van, which they loaded with the cigarettes.

They left him in a field near Redmile in Leicestershire at 2100 GMT, about three hours after he was abducted.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in Wolds Drive on Wednesday evening to come forward.

They also want to speak to anyone who saw suspicious activity at the cash and carry or the white Mercedes Sprinter van near Redmile.
