A fourth man has been arrested over the death of businessman Julian Gardner at his farm in East Sussex.

The 31-year-old Kent man was arrested in Ashford on Friday in connection with the ongoing murder investigation.

Sussex Police said he would be brought to Sussex for questioning.

Mr Gardner, 53, died on 11 October from multiple injuries after apparently disturbing thieves in outbuildings at his Robertsbridge farm.

Detectives said a 31-year-old man, also from Kent, who was arrested in Caernarfon, North Wales on Thursday had now arrived in Sussex for questioning about the murder.

'Botched robbery'

Two other men from Ashford, Kent, have been arrested and bailed.

Police believe he was the victim of a botched robbery at Bush Barn Farm where he ran an agricultural and car repair business.

One theory is that he was crushed between two vehicles.

Mr Gardner's body was found by his business partner. He had suffered several fractures and compression injuries.

Two burnt-out vehicles were found abandoned a few miles away.
