Nine charged with drugs offences after Coventry raids

Nine men have been charged after being arrested under a police operation to crack down on drug dealers in Coventry.

The operation was prompted by residents in the city asking police to take action, the West Midlands force said.

Eight men from Coventry and another from Birmingham were charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, one count each of heroin and crack cocaine.

The men, aged between 19 and 35, were due at Coventry Magistrates' Court.

Two other people have been released on police bail pending further enquiries after being arrested on suspicion of money laundering and supply of controlled drugs.

A total of £15,500 in cash was seized during Thursday's operation along with a quantity of what was believed to be a Class A drug, police said.
