Further bail in people trafficking probe

Nine people arrested in connection with an operation targeting people trafficking and prostitution have had their bail extended.

Officers made the arrests in Ipswich, Norwich, Swindon, Harwich in Essex and Tedburn St Mary in Devon in July and August.

Six women and three men were held on suspicion of conspiracy to traffic people for sexual exploitation.

They have all been rebailed until January next year.

A tenth woman arrested in Colchester in connection with the investigation in September has been bailed until November.

Suffolk Police led the operation, which also involved officers from the Norfolk, Essex, Wiltshire and Devon and Cornwall police forces.

The Serious and Organised Crime Agency's vulnerable persons team, the UK Border Agency, the Crown Prosecution Service's complex case unit and the UK Human Trafficking Centre were also involved in the operation.
