Isle of Wight beach 'sex act' pair fail to answer bail

A couple arrested after allegedly engaging in sexual acts on a popular holidaymakers' beach have failed to answer bail.

The 72-year-old man and woman, aged 49, were arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency at Shanklin Esplanade, on the Isle of Wight on 8 August.

The man, originally from Derby, and the woman from, Redhill, Surrey, failed to report to police on Sunday.

Poice said a warrant could be issued if the pair fail to contact them.

Officers were alerted to the pair after members of the public spotted them apparently involved in a sexual act.

A spokesman said: "The suspects did not report to Newport Police Station on the Isle of Wight as expected.

"They remain on police bail pending further enquiries."
