Border Agency make four arrests at Durham takeaways

Four people have been arrested during a joint police and UK Border Agency raid on fast food restaurants in County Durham.

Officers acting on a tip-off, raided the Mayflower Chinese takeaway on Front Street, Sacriston.

Three Chinese men were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

An Iranian man was also later arrested at the Best Kebab One restaurant in Darlington, also on suspicion of immigration offences.

Both the Mayflower and Kebab shop owners were issued with penalty notices and face up to £50,000 in fines unless they can prove they checked staff had the right to work in the UK before employing them.
