A County Durham factory worker was crushed to death after becoming trapped in an industrial press he was trying to repair, an inquest heard.

Paul Clark, 52, from Newton Aycliffe, died at the Thyssen Krupp Tallent car parts plant in the town in July 2009.

The maintenance engineer, who was married with two children, was called to fix the machine after it broke down.

An inquest jury at Chester-le-Street magistrates court returned a verdict of accidental death.

The inquest was told the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was considering whether any action should be taken against the firm, which employs about 800 people and makes car chassis and suspensions.
