Charges after Hartlepool-Sheffield Wednesday violence

Two men have been charged with assault after a Sheffield Wednesday fan suffered head injuries in a fight.

Trouble flared in Station Approach, Church Street, Hartlepool, on Saturday after Wednesday won 5-0. The 50-year-old victim is stable.

Two men, aged 23 and 27, have been charged with assault and are due to appear before Teesside magistrates.

Four other men, aged 25, 45, 48, and 20, arrested during the fight, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Another Wednesday fan, aged 46, also suffered head injuries during the trouble and is recovering in hospital.
