Northallerton swimming pool death boy identified
An eight-year-old boy who died after getting into difficulties at a swimming pool in North Yorkshire has been identified by police.
Kaimen Ward of Ashlands Road, Northallerton died after the incident at Hambleton Leisure Centre in Northallerton on Wednesday.
He was taken by ambulance to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton where he was pronounced dead.
His family described him as a "lovely young boy, best son and brother".
Police inquiries into the death are continuing and the Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.
In a statement Kaimen's family said: "We are struggling to come to terms with what has happened to Kaimen, it has left us completely devastated.
"He is such a lovely young boy, the best son and brother anyone could wish for.
"We would like to thank everybody for all the love and support we have received."
Hambleton Council, which runs the swimming pool, temporarily closed the leisure centre as a mark of respect.
The local authority is also conducting its own investigation.
Phil Morton of Hambleton District Council said: "We would send our deepest condolences to the family. I can't imagine what they must be going through.
"Tragic accidents happen in all walks of life. What we have to do now is wait until the police conduct their investigations."
