Smoke forces jet to make emergency landing at Gatwick
A plane had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport after an onboard oven began smoking.
The Thomas Cook flight TSX975K was carrying 320 passengers from Manchester to Turkey when the incident took place.
A spokesman for the firm said the aircraft landed at Gatwick at about 0840 BST as a precautiony measure and all the people were taken off.
Following an investigation it was discovered that packaging in the oven had been smoking.
Thomas Cook said the plane would now return to Manchester to allow for a change of crew before it resumed its journey to Dalaman in Turkey.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said officers attended the incident but the smoking had stopped by the time the aircraft landed and no-one was hurt.
