Woman killed by flesh-eating bug

A review is taking place into the death of a woman days after visiting an NHS walk-in clinic in Peterborough.

Evelyn Crawford, 69, of Welland, died at Peterborough Hospital on Saturday after contracting the rare bacterial infection necrotising fasciitis (NF).

On Thursday, staff at the walk-in centre in Thorpe Road told her to take hay fever tablets saying her swollen face was caused by an allergy.
