Man arrested in London on suspicion of terror offences

A 20-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences, Scotland Yard has said.

He was arrested on Monday by counter-terrorism officers in Thamesmead, south east London, on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism contrary to the Terrorism Act 2006.

The man was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody, the Metropolitan Police said.

The arrest was made under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
