A British man has died after an incident on the Greek island of Santorini, the Foreign Office has said.

The man, believed to be 39 and on his honeymoon, died of severe injuries after an incident thought to have involved a sea scooter on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said it was "aware of the death of a British national" and it was "providing consular assistance to his family".

A second Briton has been arrested following the incident, it added.

A spokesman for Santorini Tourist Police told the BBC a Greek man had also been arrested.

The two men are due to give statements before a state prosecutor on the island of Naxos on Thursday.

The spokesman said the victim was believed to have been struck by a Jet Ski, saying an investigation was ongoing.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in Greece on 17 September. We are providing consular assistance to his family at this sad time.
