A 22-year-old man planning to travel to Turkey has been arrested at Luton Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences, Scotland Yard has said.

The man was stopped by Bedfordshire Police officers on Wednesday afternoon, before boarding a flight to Istanbul.

He was later arrested "on suspicion of being involved in the preparation of acts to commit terrorism" and an address in west London was searched.

He was held at a south London police station and later released on bail.

Police said the London address was searched "as part of the investigation", but added that the search was now complete.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's SO15 counter-terrorism unit are now investigating.
