Operation Elveden: Met police staff member arrested
Police probing inappropriate payments to public officials have arrested a Metropolitan Police staff member.
The 55-year-old man and a woman, 48, were arrested at their home in Berkshire at about 05:00 BST, and later released on bail until October.
They were held on suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in public office.
It brings the number of people arrested under Operation Elveden - which is being conducted by the Met - to 74.
The operation, which is being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, runs alongside Operation Weeting, the Met's phone-hacking inquiry, and Operation Tuleta, a probe into computer hacking and other privacy breaches.
The Met Police said the pair had been taken to police stations in west London before being been bailed pending further inquiries.
The arrested man is based at New Scotland Yard, it added.
