A group of MPs has written to the government to establish a taskforce to "avert the disaster" of 2,000 job cuts at BAE, according to Preston MP Mark Hendrick.
The Labour MP said the news was a "huge blow" and urged Business Minister Claire Perry to impress the "major concerns" of Lancashire MPs about the plans on the prime minister.
He asked the government to explain what it was doing to win contracts globally to sell the Typhoon and Hawk to "sustain the UK's leading technology and sovereignty capability".
"Lancashire builds the finest - because we have the best workforce in the world and we don't want to be let down again."
