  3. Elderly residents at island care centre die

Elderly residents have died at a care facility in Shetland as a result of suspected coronavirus.

The Care Inspectorate said it was aware of a number of deaths at the Wastview Care Centre but would not confirm how many residents had died.

The organisation - which oversees and regulates the care sector in Scotland - said its thoughts were with the loved ones of those affected as well as the staff and wider community.

Last week Shetland Islands Council had said there were 19 care clients across the islands showing coronavirus symptoms, although the figure has fluctuated.
