Jaime Esteves, the head of tax at PWC in charge of Portugal, Angola and Cape Verde has left the firm following the revelations about the company’s links with Africa's richest woman Isabel Dos Santos.
Earlier this week, BBC Panorama and other media organisations reported that PWC has helped Ms Dos Santos with auditing, consultancy and tax advice for her companies.
PWC declined to comment on Mr Esteves’ departure from the company.
In a statement PWC said: “We strive to maintain the highest professional standards at PwC and have set expectations for consistent ethical behaviour by all PwC firms across our global network.
"In response to the very serious and concerning allegations that have been raised, we immediately initiated an investigation and are working to thoroughly evaluate the facts and conclude our inquiry.
We will not hesitate to take appropriate actions to ensure that we always stand for the very highest standards of behaviour, wherever we operate in the world.”
Isabel dos Santos accuses the Angolan authorities of a "witch-hunt" against her, following a leak of documents.
