Educational publishers to merge

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that educational publishers McGraw-Hill Education Inc and Cengage Learning are planning to merge.

The enlarged company would be called McGraw-Hill said on Wednesday and regard their tie-up as a merger of equals.

Centaur flogs financial division for £5m

Business information consultancy Centaur Media has flogged its financial services division to rival publisher Metropolis for £5m.

The deal will mean Money Marketing, Mortgage Strategy, Platforum, Taxbriefs and Headline Money will move to Metropolis.

The division made £1.2m last year.

Andria Vidler, Centaur boss said: "This disposal continues the simplification of Centaur, further reducing our advertising exposure and allowing us to focus on developing products and services with stronger recurring revenues."
