The FTSE 100 is down 0.31% at 6,821.56.
Ashtead Group, the industrial equipment rental company, is leading the FTSE risers with its share price up 2% at £19.09.
Shares in Vodafone, the telecoms giant, top the blue chip fallers, down 2.9% at 144.9p.
The FTSE 250 is flat at 18,583.74.
Metro Bank's share price is up 3%.
However, it does not make up for a near 40% drop on Wednesday after the bank admitted that it had wrongly classified some commercial property loans.
Ashtead Group, the construction and industrial equipment supplier, is leading the FTSE 100 fallers on Monday, with its share price down 3.8% at £18.88.
It is followed by luxury fashion house Burberry, down 1.9% at £18,30, which is due to publish its latest financials on Thursday.
Russian steekmaker Evraz is the biggest riser on the blue chip index, up 3.8% at 568.9p.
The wider FTSE 100 is down 0.14% at 7,083.95.
Insurer Hiscox expects growth in gross written premiums to slow towards the end of the year, making its shares the biggest faller on the FTSE 250, down 6.8% at £15.32.
The FTSE 250 is down 0.33% at 19,262.18.
ConvaTec's shares has extended earlier falls and are now down 34% at 148.22p following a profit warning and the departure of its chief executive Paul Moraviec.
It is still the biggest faller on the FTSE 250. The index itself is down 1% at 18,783.61.
Elsewhere on the FTSE 250, shares in electronic trading business Nex have jumped 4.6% £10.51 after its takeover by CME, the US futures exchange, was cleared by regulators.
Paddy Power is the biggest riser on the FTSE 100, up 4.1% at £62.62 while equipment rental specialist Ashtead Group is leading the fallers, down 3.5% at £19.24.
The FTSE 100 is trading marginally lower at 6,993.40.

Mining groups saw the biggest falls during mid-morning trade, topped by precious metals specialist Fresnillo whose share price was down 2.7% at 790.3p.
