Cumbria police closed than 10,000 cases in 2019 without identifying a suspect, according to research by the Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran, who obtained the figures through a Freedom of Information request.
Her findings show Cumbria's police investigated more than 1,400 burglaries without finding a suspect, along with more than 100 sexual offences and 34 cases of rape.
However, all five homicides investigated by the force ended with a suspect being found, and the force investigated more than 700 cases of possession of drugs and 172 of drug-trafficking, with only one case closed without a suspect in each.Copyright: BBC
