The Joker actor's Oscar campaign has been political - using awards season to campaign for various causes.
It's causing quite the storm on Twitter - actor Joaquin Phoenix has pledged to do his bit to clamp down on climate change by not changing - his tuxedo, that is.
He says he will stick to the same jacket for the whole of the awards season - which in his case is looking to be very busy indeed.
The US actor has just been nominated for a best actor Bafta for his lead role in the film Joker - and he's the number one favourite to emerge victorious.
He has received his fair share of plaudits for the move from the Twitterati, including, not surprisingly, from the designer of the chosen tux, Stella McCartney.
Another Twitter user wrote that Joaquin Phoenix "saying he’ll be wearing the same Stella McCartney suit throughout awards season is a good move in the right direction - maybe some of the ladies could do the same?"
But others are more critical: One replied to Stella McCartney asking: "I've worn the same @marksandspencer tux to black tie events for the last 4 years. Am I a hero too?"
Another posted: "All the woke muppets on Twitter fawning over Joaquin Phoenix wearing the same tuxedo for the whole 2020 awards season to save the planet will be mega impressed with Wayne and Waynetta Slob for not changing their pants since 1993."
Joaquin Phoenix dropped by a screening of his new film in Los Angeles.
