Murals of some of the most famous people to have lived in Worthing are to be allowed to remain in place.

An artist, known only as "Horace", painted ten of the town's most famous sons and daughters on various buildings.

While the work has proved popular with residents and tourists alike, Worthing Borough Council found itself duty bound to investigate after a complaint was made about the mural of Billy Idol on the Egremont pub in Brighton Road.

The owners of all the buildings gave Horace permission to paint – but the murals of Dave Benson Phillips on the New Amsterdam pub, and Masterchef winner Kenny Tutt in Warwick Street, needed planning permission because they were painted on listed buildings.

After a lengthy discussion the council decided to "leave them all alone".

The murals include portraits of Oscar Wilde, Simon Mayo and Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie.

Water is coming: Thrones' plastic bottle is from Cumbrian firm

You may have seen the social media fuss over the plastic water bottle visible just behind the heel of the chap on the left, Samwell Tarly, in the TV series Game of Thrones.

You'll be pleased to hear it was bottled in that hotbed of medieval castles, romantic ruins, bare hills and bitter winters, the Eden Valley, near Armathwaite, by a firm called Aqua Pura.
